When South African residents Joy & Lucien set out to remodel their recently-purchased Durban home, they wanted to create the perfect space for modern living with two kids.
To create an airy indoor-outdoor feel, Joy and Lucien replaced all the original windows and doors with big custom picture windows and doors.
Using a mixture of furniture and styles from different eras, they were able to stay within the same tonal range to create a smooth transition throughout the house.
Joy and Lucien's living room consists of chrome, soft linen sofa's and colonial style details.
They painted the dining room a contrasting dark grey to differentiate the space from the all-white living room, and added mismatched cane and raffia-covered chairs to sit at the clean-lined table.
Such a sleek kitchen!!
A seamless transition outside - they extended the deck the entire length of the house.
I love the steps separating the deck from the grass - so genius!
The magnificent flat-crown tree creates the perfect stage for this beautiful lush garden and landscaping.
